A leave that's approved on paper but present on the register is two truths, not one.
The Monday-morning reality
Leave usually lives in a chat thread, a paper slip, or a register that the attendance register has never spoken to. A parent texts the class teacher, a teacher emails the office, and somewhere a balance is meant to be deducted by hand. Then someone on “approved” leave shows up, is marked present, and now the school holds two stories about the same day. ScholaRise puts leave on the same register as attendance: policies and balances on one side, multi-level approval chains on the other, and a conflict check in the middle so the two stories can never quietly disagree.
-
Leave policies
Define paid and unpaid policies with an annual cap, role eligibility, and monthly allocations — with optional carry-forward and a carry-forward limit for the days nobody used.
-
Balances & entitlements
Every staff member carries a per-policy balance — total, used and remaining — kept per year and, where policies allocate monthly, broken down month by month so nobody over-draws.
-
Half-day & custom slots
Apply for a full day, half day, quarter day or a custom time window — and the balance is debited at the right value, 1.0, 0.5 or 0.25, not rounded up to a whole day.
-
Student leave by parents
Parents raise their child's leave from the app — a reason, the dates, and an optional supporting document or medical note attached, routed to the right approvers automatically.
-
Multi-level approval chains
Build the hierarchy per branch — each level a role or a named approver, with the maximum days that level may clear — so a short leave stops at the class teacher and a long one climbs to the head.
-
Approval history
Every decision is recorded — who acted, at which level, the comment, and the days requested at that moment — so the timeline shows exactly how a leave reached approved or rejected.
-
Attendance conflict detection
If someone on approved leave turns up and is marked present, the conflict is caught — and can auto-cancel, refund the balance, or split the leave to keep only the days actually taken.
-
Notifications
Tell people what they need to, the way they read it — email, WhatsApp or push — on submit, approval and rejection, with extra recipients for the desk that wants to be copied.
-
01 / 04
Scoped by branch and academic session, exactly like the rest of the platform — staff balances reset by year, student leave is filed against the right session and class, and one campus's approval chain stays its own.
-
02 / 04
On the same register as attendance. Leave is not a separate ledger that drifts. When an approved leave and a present mark collide, the conflict surfaces — auto-cancel, refund the day, or split the leave — instead of quietly disagreeing.
-
03 / 04
On the same web, iOS and Android apps. A parent raises a child's leave from the phone; the class teacher clears level one between periods; the head signs off the rest from a desk. No separate leave login for anyone.
-
04 / 04
Within reach of Sol, the AI agent. The same assistant that answers questions across the school sits over leave too — a quiet way to ask who's out this week or how many sick days are left, not a fourth tool to learn.
Why it's one register
Leave and attendance describe the same day. So they should never tell two different stories.
